EPISODE 162: BECAUSE
BE IN THE WORD:
The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. (Luke 4:18)
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matt 5:10)
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. (Matthew 5:11)
Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. (Matthew 10:39)
And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. (Matthew 19:29)
Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you
and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. (Luke 6:22)
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. (Eph 2:4-5)
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. (Lam 3:22)
I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love, because you have seen my affliction; you have known the distress of my soul, and you have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy; you have set my feet in a broad place. (Psalm 31:7-8)
BE DOERS, NOT JUST HEARERS:
- Are you walking through a trial right now? Pause and pray and ask God to show you the Because of it right now. Is it for His sake or for the sake of Christ? Is it for the sake of the kingdom? Could you be a witness to others about the power and love of Christ simply by how you journey through this? Is it so He can grow righteousness in you, or display in full glory His love for you? Pray to see the situation through the eyes of God and how He is ever-present in it.
- Is there a Because you can see in hindsight? Is it clear on the other side what God was up to in that time? If so, journal about the Because. Was it for His sake or yours? Pray about an opportunity to arise where you can share that Because with someone else who may be struggling with seeing a Because in their own life.
