WELCOME TO THE BEST OF BE…replays of some of our favorite episodes of the past year. In planning out future series and topics for our podcasts, we kept coming back to topics we had covered previously and their importance in BEING women of God. So throughout the rest of the year — we’re going to sprinkle into the mix some previously-aired podcasts. We hope you enjoy revisiting some of these topics and themes with us!
BE IN THE WORD (this week’s verses):
Be still, be calm, see, and understand I am the True God. (Psalm 46:10)
The Lord will fight for you. All you have to do is keep still. (Exodus 14:14)
Be still. Be patient. Expect the Eternal to arrive and set things right. (Psalm 37:7)
BE TWEETERS (ready-made tweets, just click to tweet):
God doesn’t say “hey, if you feel like it, be still.” It’s a command. #BeStill @bestillbefree
BE DOERS, NOT JUST HEARERS OF THE WORD (practical application):
1. Make 2 lists of yourself:
1) All the things you are doing — the roles you play, titles, jobs, positions, etc.
2) All the things you are — the core traits that make you a unique you. (Be careful, because your DO list is different from your BE list)
2. How do you want to write your legacy? How do you want to be known?
3. Take 10 minutes a day, every day, to just sit in silence asking God to reveal your need to be still and how to actually become still.
BE EDUCATED (additional resources):
1. Why You Can Still & Be (& Internet Loud is Not the Boss of You) by Ann Voskamp. Beautiful, poetic post about stillness and being and quieting the noise.
2. The Power of Being by Christine Caine. A devotion about stopping the striving in order to restore your soul.
3. The Best Yes by Lysa TerKeurst. Lysa’s book is all about living an unrushed life — a still one, if you will. It will help you rise above the rush of endless demands and discover your best yes.
BE TOGETHER (create discussion by commenting below):
Is being still something you struggle with, or do you think you’re learning how to stop striving, sink down and let go? What is the one biggest hurdle you have when it comes to being still? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!
