A MESSAGE FROM AMBER:
I cannot begin to express what an honor it was to have Anne join us on the podcast this week.
It is a special privilege to sit down knee to knee with someone with so much wisdom and faith. If you ever have a chance to sit down and read Love & Duty by Ben & Anne Purcell, I would encourage you to do it! It’s an incredible read and offers so much incite into the lives of people who’ve faced incredible strife.
There are so many stories from Ben & Anne’s journey that profoundly touch my spirit and remind me of God’s faithfulness and love. But one that reignites with me now more than ever:
Ben had been in solitary confinement in the prison camp in Vietnam when a stranger reached his hand under the door of Ben’s cell and gave him a hand shake. Ben described the realization that it had been over year since he had touched another human being and how that small gesture of friendship was a huge indication of hope and a future.
We’ve been talking about what it means bold and conquer, and like everything else, boldness and conquering takes place in the form of a journey, not a destination. (<= tweet that) This journey of being bold and conquering has desperately dark and lonely patches. There are stops on the journey when we feel totally alone.
There are times when we feel that it’s all for naught. That our efforts to speak plainly, to do what’s right go unnoticed or even unwanted.
It’s in these dark moments that the Lord reaches his hand under our cell and holds on for dear life.
So don’t be afraid. I am here, with you; don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, help you. I am here with My right hand to make right and to hold you up. (Isaiah 41:10)
Don’t give up on the pursuit to conquer your strongholds. To be bold in acknowledging what’s next. You have a mighty savior who’s with you. Holding your hand, holding you up and you walk together towards freedom.
