BE IN THE WORD (this week’s verses):
And don’t be wishing you were someplace else or with someone else. Where you are right now is God’s place for you. Live and obey and love and believe right there. (I Corinthians 7:17)
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
BE DOERS, NOT JUST HEARERS (practical application):
1. Understand the Story. In our suffering we do not always know all of the facts. Job didn’t know that Satan had asked God’s permission to try and test him. If he had known that, don’t you think it would have given him an extra boost to be like I’m not going to let you win? (author unknown)
2. Be Proactive. No matter what the struggle, it is our choice how we will choose to live with that struggle. Holly Gerth says, “You may be in a cave but you have a choice: You can sit in the dark or you can diamond-mine your difficulties.”
3. Quit Thinking It’s Only You. We all suffer in one way or another. When we think it’s only me, we can get on a very lonely island of isolation which is right where the enemy wants us. Jesus suffered a painful, excruciating death…it’s not just you.
4. Pray. Never quit praying. Even Jesus prayed up to the last hour for a different solution to man’s depravity.

BE EDUCATED (additional resources):
1. Why Do Christians Suffer? by Joyce Meyer. Joyce Myers discusses what she believes is the eight most common reasons why we suffer.
2. Lord Is It Warfare? by Kay Arthur. This book is by far one of my favorite studies I have ever down of Kay Arthur. She will lead you through understanding how the enemy seeks to kill, steal, and destroy using her own experiences and stories of others. The study can be done on your own or there is a video series that accompanies it.
BE TOGETHER (creating discussion in the comment, bottom right tab!):
Can you relate with one of the people we talked about in the Bible? Have you felt like you were on an island but now realize suffering has existed since the beginning of sin? Please let us hear your heart in the comments below!
