EPISODE 83: BE RENEWED IN SPIRIT
A MESSAGE FROM AMBER:
I’m going to be honest. In my current phase of life, the thought of being spiritually renewed brings forth one of two reactions:
1. YES PLEASE! Being spiritually renewed sounds great! Like a spa for my soul!
… or
2. What does being spiritually renewed require of me? I’m currently walking around the grocery store with spit-up in my hair because these days, a shower is a luxury. I don’t know if I can put in the effort to “renew” when I can’t even put in the effort to vacuum my house!
And if I’m being truthful, these reactions usually occur at the same time.
But what I’m learning about God, is that He is faithful to meet you where you are.
In those early mornings before the baby wakes up and I’m in heaven with my cup of coffee and a warm fire. When she sleeps so late that I have time to read not only one but TWO devotionals in addition to my bible… God meets me there. But in those mornings when I barely have time to slip on a hoodie before my girl is ready to eat. When I’m literally propping my bible on my baby while nursing. When she is teething and needs to be held constantly and the only way I can meet God is by singing hymns as she drifts off to sleep… God meets me there too.
Spiritual renewal is less about what I’m capable of and more about what I’m willing to give. It’s less about me and ALL about Him.
Take heart this week. Cling to the hope that Christ offers us and know that wherever and whenever you choose to kneel before Him, He will meet you there.
BE IN THE WORD (this week’s verses):
This week, read all of 2 Chronicles 29!
BE EDUCATED (additional resources):
BE DOERS, NOT JUST HEARERS (practical application):
- Commit yourself to the Lord
- Commit your household to the Lord.
- Search your heart for areas that need cleansing.
- Celebrate! Christians need to have more fun. If you’re not ready to start dancing during your church’s Sunday morning worship, try it out at home. Some of my best moments with God are when I’m dancing around my living room with my baby!
